I love looking at Robert Pattinson’s filmography. He’s done everything from playing vampires to Batman…ok, I guess both are bat-related but now he is playing a clone.

Mickey 17 follows Mickey a man down on his luck who signs up to be an expendable. Basically, he willingly lets a science crew do experiments on him, use him for dangerous tests, and explore unknown territory. He did it to try and get off of earth and have a change in life. It’s fine though, because he can always be printed again. The crux of the movie is when they think that Mickey 17 has died so another gets printed. This leads to the issue of multiples, more than one being alive at a time.

From the sci-fi concept of cloning and living forever to exploring unknown planets this movie has a lot of interesting concepts that it delves into. Because it touches on a lot of topics it felt a little drawn out at certain points but I felt invested the entire time. They would bring up a concept and then elaborate on it which answered questions, I as a viewer, had about it.

The special effects were well done and everything on the space station had a unique feel to it. Although it takes place in the future it’s not all perfect and it was being run by not the greatest people so you get to see some of these flaws in how everything is running. I thought that was an interesting angle to take. Plus the alien species they encounter are so cute! The little babies are adorable. I want a plush or some merch of them.

Overall I enjoyed the movie it had some really interesting concepts. I think the execution on some of them could have been done better maybe tightening up certain parts or cutting entire scenes completely but if you’re intrigued I do recommend sci-fi lovers give this one a watch. Check out the trailer below.
