What do you get when you take two southern country singers who tend to be known for their rear ends and but them in a studio ? You get “Thicc As Thieves.” Lauren Alaina has released her new EP “Unlocked” dropped today and it features what I hope will be a single for radio with “Thicc As Thieves.” The song was co-written by Luke Bryan, and even featuring them singing a small sample of “Country Girl (Shake It for Me).” The song is easily a body positive anthem.
Lauren Alaina is known for her song “Georgia Peaches” and her Georgia peach, where as you have Lainey Wilson who is known for her Bell Bottoms and what they show off. For those of you who do not know “thicc” is a slang term for a full-figured body, specifically a big butt and curvy waist. So this was a duet that seemed best suited for these two talented ladies.
They performed the song last night at CMA Fest in Nashville and have had fun promoting the song in the build up to the performance as you can see:
I personally like the song with lyrics like “We’re thicker than our accents, thicker than our hair / Thicker than the Georgia and Louisiana air / Thicker than molasses from the patches to the seams / Stealing hearts is in our jeans / Us southern girls / We’re thicc as thieves, We’re thicc as thieves / We’re thicc as thieves, We’re thicc as thieves.” As the song calls for women or southern women to sing along with this body positive anthem. I am a little surprised it has taken the term “thicc” this long to get into mainstream country with a song, as country music never has shied away from talking about women’s butts and their love of curvier women.
Give the song a listen:
