Earlier this month April 2nd, I was suppose to go to Edmonton to take in the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band as they played Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium but sadly I wasn’t able to go and review the show and take pictures so my friend Katherine did it on my behalf.
Here is what she had to say about the show:
“Everyone knows Nitty Gritty Dirt Band as “Fishin’ In the Dark,” but the group band showed Edmonton’s Jubilee Auditorium just why they’ve been packing venues for almost 60 years.
The six piece band originally based out of Long Beach, California had the crowd in their hands singing and clapping along for almost two hours as part of their “The Hits, The History & Dirt Does Dylan,” along with opener Kelsey Waldon.
The group also covered “Four Strong Winds,” a tribute to Ian Tyson which was a fitting addition to their set while in Alberta.
With an impressive repertoire of 25 studio albums and 1 live album, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band kept the hits coming from start to finish and a “Cadillac Ranch,” in between; the band proved age is just a number and hits are timeless.”
