The Hockey Hall of Fame has announced it’s 2023 class and the it featured the only 1st ballot we expected and some long over due. Henrik Lundqvist got the call in his first year and will go down as one of the best goaltenders to never win a cup and is joined in the class by 2 other goalies who have won the big one in Tom Barrasso and Mike Vernon. Tom Barrasso was a 2x Stanley Cup champion with the Pens in the early 90s where as Mike Vernon won his with the Flames in ’89 and the Red Wings in ’97.
Also in the class is Pierre Turgeon and 4x Canadian Olympic Gold Medalist Caroline Ouellette with Ken Hitchcock and Pierre Lacroix in the builders category.
It is interesting to see some long overdue inductions along with the headliner being 1st ballot rather than a complete class of 1st ballots even if deserving.
The 2023 Hockey Hall of Fame induction ceremony is set for November 13th in Toronto.
