A fun theatre experience.
This movie is a fan service-filled ride from start to finish, and if that is not your cup of tea, you might not be on board. We follow Mario, Luigi, and Peach as they are off on another adventure, this time to save Rosalina from Bowser Jr. This adventure takes them into space and sees all kinds of new characters, including some other Nintendo character cameos. Star Fox makes an appearance, along with Pikmin and possibly a few others, but I won’t spoil that.
There is not much to say story-wise. Mario and the gang stop Bowser and his son and try to save the princess. The real charm of this movie lies in its minute-to-minute fun, filled with jokes, action and great visuals. This is one I want to watch again because there was so much to look at and so many references for fans.
There are so many specific moments I personally love, like when they reference Yoshi’s Island, they do a barrel roll, or show some characters from Mario Odyssey. It’s tough to get into it without spoiling too much
Overall, if you are a fan of Mario and looking to watch a fun film with your family, this fits the bill, and I would recommend checking it out. And make sure you stay for the post-credits scene and the post-post-credits scene, as it is what made me personally love this movie even more and get excited for the possibility of a third film.
