Let’s hop right into it!

Hoppers follows Mabel, a girl who loves animals and nature. So when the pond, that she and her grandmother always used to visit, is going to be destroyed, she tries to intervene. Sadly, there is only so much one girl can do. That is, until she discovers hopping technology that allows her to go into the body of a beaver. Now that she can understand animals, she tries to get them to help her take back the pond and save the spot that reminds her of her grandma.

I really liked this movie. I like that we follow a college student who is just trying all she can. It’s a little different than some other Pixar films following a kid. I think this adds a little more depth for everyone to enjoy. You can see in her design that she has been fighting hard for this pond. She has a cast on from previous attempts to save the pond and looks a bit dishevelled. Speaking of designs, I like that the animals change depending on whether you can understand them or not. In some scenes, you might notice they have cartoonish eyes or more realistic beady eyes. It really adds and shows the difference in the worlds we live in. I also really enjoyed the humour in this film. I noticed I was cracking up a lot more than others in the theatre, but that’s fine; I loved what they did. They sometimes had characters talking over each other or just having some really good back-and-forths. Mabel was a really brash character, but this led to some really crazy moments because all she wanted was for things just to work out, which we can all relate to.

Overall, if you are looking for a good family film, I think this one has a lot to offer for all ages and is definitely worth checking out. If you want to see more, check out the trailer below!
