An unexpected Banger.
KPop Demon Hunters Released exclusively on Netflix and has been taking over the internet. The songs that are done by a fictional K-pop group are beating actual pop groups on the music charts.
We follow this fictional K-pop band HUNTR/X as they not only entertain the masses but protect them from the demons of the underworld. They use their music to maintain the barrier between realms and when some demons get through use their weapons to fight them back. Since they have held back the demons for years the demons try a new tactic…an opposing K-pop boy band.
This movie was 9 years in the making and it shows. The animation is so polished and all of the action and fight scenes look absolutely fantastic. This movie also has a lot of style. A criticism of modern Disney and Pixar films is their samey animation style, which this quite a bit different and they aren’t afraid to have the characters be silly weird or almost gross at times.
The characters are fantastic we’re introduced to each one and in such a short amount of time get their vibe and what they’re all about. They each use different weapons and have a different style that sets them apart. There is also a Derpy cat and bird that are the absolute best.
People on the Internet have already been picking apart this film and finding little details from how certain scenes are animated to small character details that are only on screen for a second but really add to each moment.
Of course, we have to talk about the music! All of the songs immediately went on my playlist. There are some fun upbeat tunes, some slower more touching ones, and of course, some sung by the Demon boy band. All absolutely amazing. The soundtrack also features music from TWICE an actual K-pop band so they know what they were doing with this soundtrack and it’s so good.
Overall this movie is a must-watch and might be my movie of the year. With amazing music stunning visuals a heartfelt and original story, I don’t know what else you could want in a film. Since I watched it I can’t stop thinking about this movie. If you want to see more check out the trailer below…oh and Zoey is the best!
