Warkentin Believes O’Toole Will Be Strong Leader

Grande Prairie-Mackenzie MP Chris Warkentin says with Erin O’Toole now as the leader of the Conservative Party, he feels they can challenge Justin Trudeau and the Liberals in the next election.

Warkentin says one advantage that O’Toole had over some of the other competitors was him already having a seat in the House of Commons.

“The ability to be at the speech from the throne, to be in the House of Commons with the possibility of a fall election is a very helpful thing. I think that the Prime Minister is clearly looking at the possibility of a fall election.”

Warkentin says he has worked with O’Toole for several years in the House and says he will be a strong voice going into the next election.

“He’s not going to be pushed around by either the other parties or the national media. He’s gonna stand his ground and bring forward a Conservative platform that will reach all Canadians.”

Warkentin also says O’Toole understands “the importance of rebuilding the economy in Alberta and across the country.”

One of the surprises of the campaign was the performance of Leslyn Lewis who finished in third place.

Warkentin says she will be a strong asset for the party going forward.
