Viersen Says Constituents “Frustrated” By Taxes And Inflation

Taxes and inflation have dominated the debates in the current session of Parliament.

Peace River-Westlock MP Arnold Viersen says he’s heard plenty of concerns from constituents on those issues.

“It’s harder and harder to pay the bills, I hear that wherever I go. Fuel prices are up and then the carbon tax being piled on top of it all. The other thing I hear a lot about is the Liberal government mandate to reduce fertilizer use. Farmers across Northern Alberta are some of the best farmers in the world and for Justin Trudeau to try to tie their hands behind their back is extremely frustrating.”

He says the issues around tax increases and inflation are felt more in rural areas.

“It doesn’t matter what we do, there’s fuel costs that come into it. Whether it’s the food we eat that has to be transported further, or we need to go to a medical appointment or whatever it is, there’s an increased cost to that. If that wasn’t bad enough already in just the natural market, the government piles on a carbon tax on top of that, then the carbon tax is taxed with GST as well.”

Viersen says the feds removing the carbon tax can help lower those costs.
