Valleyview’s Jailyn Bablitz is now in her second season of playing college hockey at Red Deer Polytechnic.
She says that she’s playing with a lot more confidence this season.
“I think my game has changed and improved by just having a year of experience under my belt. Now I’m more confident and I know what to expect from the other teams and competition. I’m more confident in my abilities and I was more prepared coming into this season.”
As for what she’s studying in college, Bablitz says she’s taking a Bachelor of Education Elementary with the goal of becoming a teacher.
“I’m able to make that student athlete balance work by making sure I prioritize my school and hockey before anything else and making sure before the week started, I take time throughout my day to time out when I’m gonna do school work and when I’m gonna work out. I really enjoyed school as a kid and a couple of my family members are teachers and I like that I’m gonna be able to make a difference in children’s lives.”
