Valleyview Woman Among Nearly 60 Killed in Las Vegas Massacre

Fifty-eight people are now confirmed dead after a 64-year-old man opened fire from a Las Vegas hotel room while thousands of people attended a Jason Aldean concert nearby.

Various news reports have confirmed that one of the victims was 34-year-old Jessica Klymchuk, a mother of four who hails from the Valleyview area.

The librarian from St. Stephan’s School who also moonlighted as a school bus driver was vacationing there with her fiancé at the time.

In the national newspaper The Globe & Mail, her grandmother has confirmed the news of Jessica’s death.

In a press release, Holy Family Catholic Regional Division has said that they will continue to support their entire school family in this time of need. They add that a crisis support team is now in place, and will be there as long as it’s required.

HFCRD says that their thoughts and prayers are with the family, as well as all the families affected by this unimaginable attack.

In a tweet, Premier Rachel Notley says the hearts of every Albertan go out to Jessica’s loved ones.

More than 500 people were injured in the attack.

Police later confirmed though various news outlets that the suspect in the attack, Stephen Paddock, was found dead in a hotel room with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Earlier, the Trending 55 Newsroom was able to confirm through a family member that Grimshaw-area couple Shanna Wald and Mike Rothwell were also at the concert in Las Vegas. Thankfully, it was confirmed that both were okay.
