Two youths from Peace River charged after break and enter

On September 8, 2021 in the afternoon the Peace Regional RCMP received reports of break and enters to two homes in Peace River’s North End around 94 street and 89 avenue.

Upon returning to their residences, home owners discovered their homes had been entered, items were stolen and with significant disturbances inside their property.

One home owner located two individuals inside their home and confronted them before the suspects fled.

Members of the Peace Regional RCMP and Peace River Forensic Identification Section responded and conducted an investigation, that with the assistance of the public, led to the identification of the individuals involved.

Two youths, aged 14 and 15 from Peace River have been charged as a result of investigation with the following offences:

  • Breaking and entering a dwelling house and committing mischief (2 counts)
  • Theft under $5000 (2 counts)

Both youths were conditionally released from custody to appear in Peace River Provincial Youth Court on October 18, 2021, in relation to these matters. The names of the youths will not be released in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The Peace Regional RCMP would like to remind the public to take steps to prevent break-ins and thefts. Lock your doors and secure your windows when you’re away from your home and consider alarm monitoring solutions that will notify you of unexpected activity. If you’re going to be away, ask your neighbours to check on your property. If you see something suspicious, report it to police.
