Two new Principals in the Peace River School Division

Peace River High School and Dixonville School will be getting new leadership in the upcoming school year.

PRHS will be appointing of Jonathan Pittman as the Acting Principal of Peace River High School and Britain Olischefski as Principal of Dixonville School for the start of the 2021-22 school year.

Olischefski received his Bachelor of Secondary Education from the University of Alberta in 2011. During his studies he majored in Social Studies and Minored in Physical Education while attending the University of Alberta.  He most recently moved back to his wife’s hometown of Manning in 2017 and began teaching at Grimshaw Jr/Sr High School and then at Grimshaw Public School.

Pittman successfully completed his B.Sc. from Memorial University in 2005 and has been involved in many Peace River schools since 2007. Pittman has been T.A. Norris Middle School’s Vice Principal since 2018. He has also been working with the Youth Science Canada Regional Science Fair as their president in 2013 until the present day. Pittman says he is really excited to go to PRHS as Acting Principal.”the transition should be quite smooth I’m hoping, the students up there I will already have known, and taught many of them.” Pittman says he has no concerns moving schools, and ready to jump on board and work with the new team at Peace High.

Pittman is filling in for a year leave of absence for PRHS’s current Principal, Mark Owens. Pittman is also a member of Peace River School Division’s Leadership Cohort and is halfway through his Master of Education program with the University of Alberta.
