The Town of Peace River has a plan when it comes to reopening some of its recreation facilities.

The town announced that the: Baytex Energy Centre, Peace Regional Pool, as well as the spray park will soon be open for public use.

The spray park is the facility with the earliest opening date, which is tentatively slated for June 29.

According to the town, staff members are working to prepare the park for opening in light of the pandemic and will have more details closer to opening day.

For the pool, the town usually shuts it down in September for annual maintenance.

However, thanks to the pandemic, staff members were able to do maintenance during the lockdown so the pool will not have to close its doors during September, like in past years.

The pool is scheduled to be open to the public on July 17.

The Baytex Energy Centre is looking at a date of July 6 for reopening.

The delay is due to some maintenance projects that need to be completed in the fieldhouse, but were put on hold due to COVID-19.

The indoor playground will be off-limits for the time being because those kinds of facilities are not permitted to reopen under Stage 2 of the province’s relaunch.

The gym opened as of this morning.
