This Week In The NWJHL – January 27

We’re getting closer and closer to the end of the regular season in the NWJHL.

Two teams are locked into their playoff seeds (Fort St. John at #1 and Sexsmith at #6) while seeds #2-#5 are still up in the air.

It should be an interesting finish coming down the homestretch.

NORTH PEACE NAVIGATORS

The Navs ended their four game slide with a pair of wins.

They got a 25 save shutout from Ryan Noble in a 3-0 decision over Grande Prairie, and two goals from Robert Lemay and Lochlan Willis in a 9-4 win over Sexsmith.

They’re one point back of Dawson Creek for second place, the Navs host Fairview on Friday.

FAIRVIEW FLYERS

Fairview is currently at the four seed, although they could finish as high as second if enough things go their way.

The Flyers got a 5-4 win over Sexsmith before losing 5-2 to Fort St. John.

They have two road games this week, North Peace on Friday and Sexsmith on Saturday.

SEXSMITH VIPERS

The Vipers still have yet to break their losing streak which has now hit 18 games.

Their setbacks last week were 5-4 to Fairview, 6-5 in a shootout to Dawson Creek and 9-4 to North Peace.

They host Fort St. John on Friday and Fairview on Saturday.

GRANDE PRAIRIE KINGS

The Kings know they won’t be able to get a first round bye, the question for them now is will they finish in third, fourth or fifth.

Their one game last week saw them get shut out 3-0 at home against the North Peace Navigators.

Grande Prairie will visit Dawson Creek on Friday before hosting Fort St. John on Saturday.

DAWSON CREEK CANUCKS

The Canucks currently hold the second spot, but the Navs are one point behind them with a game in hand.

This week for the Canucks, they’ll be at home to Grande Prairie on Friday.

FORT ST. JOHN HUSKIES

The first place Huskies winning streak is now at 13 games.
