Fires AM May 30, 2023

Wildfires are beginning to threaten again.

Despite potential damage assessment being undertaken in certain jurisdictions in the Peace and Mackenzie, Mother Nature is not kind, again.

A Red Flag watch has been issued for the Mackenzie region, meaning weather and fuel conditions are ideal for wildland fire combustion and rapid spread.

The Cleardale/Peace River Banks fire has been upgraded to being out-of-control again.

No alerts at this time, but that could change.

However, Valleyview and Swan Hills have lifted their evacuation alerts.

Sturgeon Lake, Peavine, and East Prairie are evaluating the situation, as residents head home.

Fox Lake residents, who’ve lost their homes, are being provided visual tours by the Little Red River Cree Nation.

5 evacuation orders are still in effect across the province, with 3,500 people still out of their homes.

9 of the 27 fires in the area are deemed as out-of-control, including the fires at Fox Lake, Rainbow Lake, Peavine, East Prairie, and Swan Hills.

Residents around the area are being advised to refrain from using recreational drones of wildfires.

Transport Canada states that use is dangerous, illegal, and is worthy of fines up to $15,000.

A slight chance of showers is in the forecast, with average temperatures, for the next couple of days.
