  1. Smoke may be back in the air this weekend, as fires continue to burn in the area.
    Meanwhile, crews are starting to gain the upper-hand on the battle grounds around the area.
  2. Community members are questioning the progress of the Peace River Bridge Project.
    Delays, tenders, plus other circumstances have kept the construction zone in place on the Old Arch Bridge for the past few years.
  3. The MD of Greenview has adopted their 2025 Operating and Capital Budgets.
    $238 Million dollars is the operating budget, and over $100 million goes to capital projects this year.
  4. It’s a big weekend this weekend in High Level, as the town celebrates it’s Diamond Anniversary.
    The town has come a long way, since being incorporated as a trading post, and later a oil sands town in the 1960’s. (Crystal McAteer interview in separate story)
  5. Alberta teachers will take to the polls over the next four days to determine whether or not they will go on strike.
    The Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) and the province have been in negotiations since last August when the contract with teachers expired.
  6. As Alberta’s government signs an agreement aimed at cutting red tape for oilfield rigs, it asks Ottawa to clear the path for a cross-country pipeline since B.C. opposes the idea.
  7. Wheatbelt Baseball League this weekend… High Prairie plays in Sexsmith tomorrow.
  8. Stanley Cup final tonight… Game 2 – Florida is in Edmonton, the Oilers took the opening game.
  9. CFL this weekend… Toronto is in Montreal tonight. Hamilton is in Calgary and Edmonton is in BC tomorrow.
  10. MLB this weekend… The Toronto Blue Jays start a three-game weekend set in Minnesota tonight. Paxton Schultz starts for the Jays on a bullpen night, against Bailey Ober.
  11. Air Quality statements and warnings are still in place for the Peace and Mackenzie, but asa mentioned, the smoke presence could increase during the weekend.
    The good news is that temps remain comfortable in to next week, and showers are falling in the Mackenzie until tomorrow afternoon.
    Highs today are around 20 degrees, with lows tonight being around 10. The Peace could see near 30 degrees for Sunday only.
