  1. 28 year-old Cody St. Arnault of the hamlet has been charged with manslaughter.
    Fort Vermilion police were called early yesterday morning to the nursing station to respond to the victim of a stabbing.
    Authorities say the victim, 33 year-old Keifer St. Arnault had gotten into an argument with his brother, got stabbed, and died.
  2. Conditions may improve later on this afternoon, as far as Air quality in the Northwest is concerned.
    Meanwhile, fires continue to burn in the Dene Tha area, the Red Earth Creek area and the Hawk Hills area.
  3. Meanwhile, the Swan Hills Fire has been downgraded to Being Held. That fire is estimated at just under 17,000 hectares in size.
  4. The Town of Valleyview is asking its residents to conserve water. The town is in an area currently affected by a Level 1 drought.
    While it is not yet severe, officials say it is important to start thinking about water conservation.
  5. Measles cases continue to spike in Northwestern Alberta, as more possible exposures have come forward.
    Confirmed cases for late last week, and early this week have surfaced in Peace River, Fort Vermilion, and La Crete.
  6. The next steps are being undertaken in the battle against Crime and Vagrancy in Downtown Peace River.

  7. Senior’s week is taking place this week in the area. Events are happening, including in the Grimshaw area, where the residents in their golden age, are being recognized and appreciated.
  8. Wheatbelt Baseball League tonight… Manning is in Rycroft, The Mets are 1-3, the Rage are 3-2.
  9. The Toronto Blue Jays play the rubber match of their three-game set this afternoon against Philidelphia. Chris Bassitt starts for the Jays against Jesus Luzardo.
  10. CFL regular season starts tonight… Ottawa is in Saskatchewan.
  11. NBA Finals starts tonight… Indiana is in Oklahoma City… Both teams are looking to end championship droughts.
    Oklahoma City won their only title as the Seattle Supersonics in 1979. Indiana has never won, but they are in the finals for the second time. The Pacers lost to the Lakers in 2000.
  12. A mix of sun and cloud is forecasted for today in the Northwest. But the Air Quality Warnings are still in place.
    Smoke forecasters are saying that the smoke could clear up a little by early this afternoon, but for now, please limit your time to be exposed to the smoke.
    Highs this afternoon are in the mid 20’s, with lows tonight a little warm, at around 15. The warmest day is still Sunday with highs in the mid to upper 20’s.
