- Cooler conditions and high humidity are aiding firefighters in efforts to contain and battle the neighborhood blazes.
However, EVAC orders are still in place in communities like Chateh, Red Earth Creek, Loon Lake, Peerless Lake and Trout Lake. - Air Quality Warnings are continuing for much of Northwestern Alberta, as smoke continues to travel in the skies, thanks to Wildfires.
The fires causing the most problems with smoke are the Kelly Lake Fire, south of Dawson Creek, the Kahntah Fires, east of Fort Nelson, the Hawk Hills fire, north of Manning, and the Red Earth Creek fires. - A number of key events in the region are being postponed because of the poor air quality.
One big one being altered is this weekend’s Peace River Powwow, which was scheduled for this weekend at the Peace River Ag. Grounds. - Anyone who has visited an emergency room in Alberta in recent years knows to expect a wait if not critically ill or injured, and now a new report confirms wait times have increased.
A report found the median length of stay in an Alberta emergency room was three hours and 58 minutes in 2024 – up 54 minutes over the past five years. - Alberta’s government says it is prioritizing emergency services, cancer care, and organ and tissue donation and transplantation in the province’s refocused health care system.
The specialized areas of care are now under the purview of Acute Care Alberta through the creation of three new provincial health corporations. - Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says she is “encouraged” by the federal government’s change of tone when discussing energy, following this week’s meeting with fellow premiers and Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Highs this afternoon are in the low to mid 20’s and will stay that way for the rest of the week. Low’s at night will be between 5 and 10 degrees.
The warmest day of the stretch might be Sunday, with digits in the Peace possibly pushing 30.
