  1. The MD of Greenview Council has green-lighted a donation of $20,000 to the Swan City Snowmobile Club in Grande Prairie.
    The money is part of an Operating Grant provided, and this follows a donation to the Valleyview Ag. Society, back in the summer.
  2. Peace River MLA Dan Williams says he’s looking to try and get more housing starts happening locally.
    Williams says he’ll be working with local municipalities to get more housing construction to take place. (Interview on App)
  3. Yard Waste bins in Peace River are ready to be picked up.
    Tomorrow will be the last day that the bins will be at the Centennial Building Parking Lot downtown, and at the Eco Center on the West Hill.
  4. The former Peace River Peavey Mart location now has a new occupant.
    The Farmer’s Market has taken over the space on the West Hill, effective in November.
  5. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says a potential budget deficit next year is not off the table as oil prices sit below what was projected.
    The $367 million dollar surplus was dependent on West Texas Intermediate oil prices averaging $74 US per barrel, but the price to start the week has been around $68.
  6. NWJHL tonight… North Peace is in Fairview, Fort St. John is in Sexsmith, and Grande Prairie is in Beaverlodge.
  7. Three Canadian teams hit the ice in the NHL tonight… Calgary is in Utah, New Jersey is in Vancouver, and Winnipeg is in Detroit.
  8. Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid will be out injured for two to three weeks.
    McDavid injured his ankle against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday.
  9. Game 5 of the World Series is tonight in New York. LA plays the Yankees, with the Dodgers up 3-1.
  10. Sunny skies are shining on the Northwest until well into next week. Highs this afternoon will be around zero, or just below.
    Low tonight will be around -10, except for -2 in the Big Lakes. The odd cloud might appear this week, but it’s nothing to worry about.
