  1. The Village of Berwyn is looking to sell the arena. Council has directed Administration to contact a realtor to list the facility for sale.
    Council sites that it’s not financially sustainable for the Village to maintain.
  2. The 2024 Harvest season continues at a rapid pace… Overall, the job is three-quarters done, which continues to be at least 20 percentage points ahead of the 10-year average.
    In the Peace Region, two-thirds of the crop is in the bin despite weather delays of cool temperatures and damp weather.
  3. Peace River and area seem to be in a generous mood heading into the Fall season.
    Nearly $4,000 was raised for the SPCA, as part of the Tails on the Trail Fundraiser that happened earlier in September.
    Yesterday, Peace Country Co-op announced that around $2,000 was raised for the Girl Guides of Peace River, as part of Fuel Good Day.
  4. New legislation concerning gender policies for youth is only weeks away from being introduced in Alberta.
    Premier Danielle Smith says the government will introduce the bill in “less than a month” and also had some strong words for those who oppose it.
  5. Alberta will not allow the sale of liquor in grocery and convenience stores, the province announced on Wednesday.
    The decision was based on a recommendation from an MLA advisory committee tasked with exploring the impact of sales on Alberta’s retail liquor industry.
  6. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith’s office says her recent comments about chemtrails don’t mean she believes the United States government is spraying them in the province.
  7. Owners of small and medium-sized businesses will finally receive their long-awaited carbon pricing refunds before the end of this year.
    The payments will return a portion of the carbon price revenue from 2019-20 through 2023-24 to small businesses in jurisdictions where the federal fuel charge applies.

    Highs this afternoon will be very lucky if it reaches 5 degrees, with lows tonight being below freezing, even as low as -11 i n the Mackenzie.
    Numbers will start to warm up a little as we approach the end of the week, but it could be wet in the Peace and Mackenzie on Friday.
