  1. Emergency crews were called out to the Peace River Airport yesterday because of a plane crash.
    A 30 year-old man from Manning and a 27 year-old man from Australia died at the scene.
  2. Human remains that were found in Mackenzie County in mid-August have been identified.
    RCMP have identified the deceased as 41-year-old Tyler Peterson, a resident of Hay River in the Northwest Territories, who was reported missing back in July.
  3. The rain and cool weather that happened yesterday surpressed the fire activity in the Northwest. Nearly 80 fires are burning in the province, but none are Out-of-control.
    The last of the OC blazes was downgraded to Being Held over the long weekend, and that wqas Fire 72 in the High Level Forest area, near the BC Border, west of Zama City.
  4. The portable school at St. Thomas More in Fairview is in place on the grounds, and will be ready for Students in October.
    Space is secure at the Provincial Building for a temporary K-6 school. Plus, the Library Building at NWP will house Grades 10-12, and temporarily house Grades 7-9.
  5. The Peace River Food Bank is breathing a little easier after a good drive this past weekend.
    Reports indicate that $18,000 in monetary and food donations was raised during Saturday’s Food Drive.
    Also, $10,000 has been received from Northern Sunrise County to help with demand on the shelves.
  6. Northern Sunrise County is reviewing the boundaries of Wards 5 and 6. A proposed bylaw is being introduced to combine the two wards into one.
    An open house is slated for tonight, 6:30 at McKinney Hall.
  7. The Peace Region is getting into the Fall with their Parade of Programs, that starts tonight. The town of Falher has theirs tonight at the Regional Multiplex.
    Peace River and Fairview has their tomorrow, while Grimshaw has theirs next week.
  8. The Dene Tha First Nation is holding a job fair for construction projects. It takes place today at the Four Chiefs Complex in Busche River.
  9. Hockey Alberta has opened applications to host the 2025 Provincial minor hockey championships this Spring.
    35 events will be held in late March and early April, with deadlines being November 15th. Peace River hosted the Junior B Provincials back in April.
  10. AJHL Pre-season tonight… Grande Prairie is in Drayton Valley.
  11. The Toronto Blue Jays host the Philidelphia Phillies in an afternoon game to wrap up their two-game set at Roger’s Center.
    Bowden Francis starts for the Jays against Cristopher Sanchez.
  12. Sunshine and comfortable temperatures are in the forecast for the Northwest this afternoon.
    Digits are in the high teens to the low 20’s as highs with lows tonight possibly bringing frost to the areas.
    Numbers could get to the mid to high 20’s in the Peace by tomorrow, and in the Northwest by Friday.
