  1. Both the Grande Prairie and District Catholic School Division and the Holy Family Catholic Regional Division are on the same page.
    The Grande Prairie Board has passed a motion to move St. Thomas More School in Fairview to move to the Holy Family Division.
  2. The Sagitawa Native Friendship Center and the Ground Level Youth Center are under one roof at the old Al Adair Center downtown.
    Because of zoning laws, the center is not operating the shelter in the re-furbished building. (Mackenzie Bobee interview on App)
  3. Some recent debates in the legislature have focused on provincial government funding to school boards. (Interview on App)
    The ATA voiced concerns that layoffs could happen in school boards getting less funding, but Education Critic Amanda Chapman says that’s not the only concern.
  4. The spring sitting of the Alberta Legislature ha ended with the passing of two contentious bills that critics claim threaten democratic processes in the province.
    Bill 20 puts political parties on municipal ballots, and grants the province greater authority to fire elected municipal councillors and veto city bylaws.
    Bill 18 is legislation requiring Alberta schools, health agencies or municipalities to get provincial approval for any deals made with the federal government.
  5. The North Peace Navigators have signed another local product for next season. Defenceman Rylan Rudneski spent the past three seasons with the U18 Peace River Royals.
    He played three NWJHL games last season as an AP call-up with the Fairview Flyers.
  6. Wheatbelt Baseball League tonight… Grimshaw is in Grande Prairie.
  7. NHL Playoffs tonight… Game 5, Florida is at the Rangers, with the series tied at 2.
  8. The Toronto Blue Jays travel back home today after sweeping the Chicago White Sox. The Jays open a three-game weekend set against Pittsburgh tomorrow.
  9. The Mackenzie and Big Lakes will still be damp today, but things will clear up in the Peace. Highs this afternoon will be in the teens, with low tonight being comfortable.
    Skies will clear off and get warmer for the weekend.
