  1. Updates are continuing to come into the Newsroom on the Shaftesbury Fire in Southwest Peace River.
    ATCO Electric continues to work on restoring power, and crews are continuing to work on the blaze, currently listed as “Being Held”.
  2. With the drought conditions plaguing the province right now, many locales are making plans to conserve the precious resource.
    One jurisdiction is the town of Valleyview, where restrictions like at the Splash Park, the Bulk Water station, as well as residential and town use could be coming into effect.
  3. Council of Northern Sunrise County has approved their final capital and operating budgets.
    The total of just over $29 million dollars will see a decrease in residential property tax.
  4. Once again, the Emergency Department at the Fairview Health Complex is having trouble having doctors present all day and night tonight, and all day and night on Monday.
    Meanwhile, the countdown is on for doctors being recruited by local Health committees to arrive in town, and possibly make Fairview home.
  5. The Grimshaw Business and Hiring Expo is happening today and tomorrow at the Mile Zero Multiplex.

  6. The April 30 deadline is quickly approaching for Canadians to get their taxes done.
    Local accoutant Gayle Walton says if you owe money on your tax return, it’s also important to have that paid before the deadline. (Interview on App)
  7. Golf Courses around the region continue to open up for the season, or are getting close to being open.
    Heart River in Nampa, High Prairie, Mighty Peace in Peace River, and Fairview are open, Condy Meadows in Manning, Lakeside in Eaglesham, 5-Star in Guy and Fox haven in High Level are getting close to being open.
  8. NHL Playoffs tonight… Game 3, Edmonton is at LA, Vancouver at Nashville and Winnipeg at Colorado. All series are tied at 1-1.
  9. The Toronto Blue Jays start a three-game set at home to the Dodgers tonight. Chris Bassitt starts for the Jays against Gavin Stone.
  10. A mix of sun and cloud with temperatures in the low to mid teens are scheduled for the weekend. Overnight low will be around freezing for the weekend as well.
    Precipitation could be falling into next week.
