  1. Town of Peace River officials are urging residents to stay off the ice on the river.
    With warmer temperatures and the spring ice break-up approaching, the ice can be very unstable and unpredictable in its thickness and strength.
  2. Peace River RCMP were busy dealing with an incident in Cadotte Lake yesterday.
    There were no reported injuries and officers had the suspects contained in a residence.
  3. The town of High Level is conducting their Community Needs Assessment Survey.
    The questionnaire covers a range of topics from all major departments in town. The project is a Council initiative as part of the Town’s Strategic Planning.
  4. The Smoky River Transport Program is being recognized provincially.
    The 2024 Minister’s Award for Transportation Innovation in the Transit/Accessible Transport Catergory.
  5. The provincial government is putting more money into being ready for the wildfire season.
    Minister of Forestry and Parks, Todd Loewen, says their operational spending for this year has increased by $55 million to $155 million. (Interview on App)
  6. The Alberta government has introduced legislation to elevate its sheriff service department into a new stand-alone police force.
    Public Safety Minister Mike Ellis says it will be independent, and will work alongside existing municipal and First Nations police agencies and the RCMP.
  7. NPHL Finals tonight… Game 2 Falher in is Spirit River. The Pirates took the opening game.
  8. Four Canadian teams are in action in the NHL tonight. Vegas is in Calgary, Toronto is in Philidelphia, Boston is in Montreal, and Ottawa is in Columbus.
  9. The Edmonton Elks of the CFL are seeking new ownership. The Elks are planning a transition from non-profit stewardship to private ownership.
    The team is hoping to have an owner in place by the start of the season.
  10. Sunshine and Spring conditions are forecasted in the Northwest into next week.
    Digits are well above normal, including a possible high of 19 in the Peace Region on Sunday.
