  1. Happy Valentine’s Day!!! Love is in the Air!
  2. High Level RCMP have four in custody on drugs, weapons, and possession charges.
    Police executed a search warrant at a residence in Bushe River earlier this months, where seizures were made. They are all scheduled in court later in February.
  3. Twice this week, physician coverage is lacking in the Emergency Department of the Fairview Health Complex.
    Once is from now until 7am tomorrow, the other is from 7am Friday to 7am Saturday.  Nurses are still available.
  4. Council meetings are happening today in the Peace Region.
    The MD of Smoky River, Big Lakes County, the town of Manning, and the town of Grimshaw, all have Council meetings today.
  5. The Provincial Government’s engagement sessions on the changing of the Health-care system are underway.
    A session in scheduled for the Slave Lake Inn on Thursday morning from 9-11, but officials are saying that registration requirements are full.
    Many sessions are scheduled for the Peace and Mackenzie in mid-March.
  6. Families Matter week is next week with individual schools in the Peace River School Division putting on their own festivities, as a way to say that Families and supports care.

  7. MPs invite several top executives from BCE Inc. and Bell Canada to testify about the company’s decision to cut about 9% of its workforce this year.
    BCE Inc. announced last week it is cutting its workforce by 4,800 positions, ending multiple television newscasts and selling off 45 of its 103 radio stations.
  8. A cougar attack in a popular wilderness area of Banff National Park has left one person with minor injuries.
    Parks Canada says the area is closed around Castle Mountain Lookout and Silverton Falls, including Rockbound Lake, about halfway between Banff and Lake Louise.

    Ploen won 4 Grey Cups with the Bombers in the late 50’s and early 60’s.
  12. Sunny skies are expected for the next several days in the Northwest.
