SARDA Ag Research has been gearing up for their summer events all year and with Covid-19 restrictions lifted, they are more excited than ever! We caught up with SARDA Extension Coordinator, Shelleen Gerbig for the Ag Show this week to chat about what they’ve been up to and how the research season is coming along.
Gerbig says the recent hot weather has been great for the plots, but not so much for the summer staff working in the field. “Unfortunately the weeds don’t stop growing when it’s hot, the work has to be done. They work early in the morning and in the afternoon they find other work to do inside.” Gerbig says all the data collected out in the field has to be entered into the systems, which is good to be done in the afternoon with heat.
