Our Subway Athlete of the Month for October is Diane Brodeur.
Brodeur was one of four people from Peace River who qualified for the Boston Marathon this year. Of course because of the COVID-19 pandemic the Marathon was cancelled but those who qualified were given a chance to run the race virtually.
“The four of us decided we would run the 42.2 km in Peace River along the dike because it’s a nice flat course. We had a good turnout of friends that came out and supported us and it was a lot of fun.”
Brodeur had a time of 4:33:41 for the virtual marathon.
“People were doing it in all kinds of different situations all around the world. Some people had to do it within their own yard because they were quarantined wherever they were.”
This year would’ve been her first appearance at the Boston Marathon.
Congratulations Diane, and best of luck going forward.
