The Blue Blur is back! In the new movie Sonic the Hedgehog 2 as you might have guessed this is the sequel to The Sonic the Hedgehog that came out in 2020. Personally I like this one a lot better than the first. It took them a trial run with the first movie but now they have made an even better film although this movie still has some flaws. I wanted to talk about everything I liked and some things I didn’t about the movie so if you haven’t seen it yet go watch it then read the rest of this…unless you dont care then go right ahead, I won’t stop you.
First I wanted to start with the few things I didn’t like about the movie and that was all the people. I came to watch a movie about a hedgehog, not a wedding between some side characters. Although there were some humorous scenes I really thought that it could have done without all of them, especially because the movie is called Sonic, not wedding agents
Now onto the stuff I liked about this movie and that’s how much fan service is in it. Compared to the last one there are a lot more references to sonic if you know the games. Knuckles at one point climbs up a cliff which is an ability that he has in the game. Tails has his Biplane and all his devices that he invented…that work…most of the time. As well of course Sonic goes super Sonic at the end of the movie.
I like that they went with the enemies to friends angle with sonic tails and knuckles because that is exactly how it happens in the games. Knuckles was never really a bad guy, he was just tricked into fighting Sonic and Tails. But that led to some of my favourite parts of the movie when sonic knuckles and tails are with each other either in fights or at the end when they finally come together.
The after credits scene totally sets up the next movie as well with Dr. Eggman’s assistant stone surviving you can be sure that he did as well. The reveal of Shadow the hedgehog is super cool and definitely means there is a third movie coming. But where there is Shadow it could also mean that we see Rouge the bat in the next sonic movie who is Shadows’ partner just like Tails is to Sonic. I can’t wait for Sonic Knuckles and Tails to team up against Shadow Rouge and possibly Eggman again.
Overall I would say that if you are a fan of Sonic or even if you are not you will have a fun family evening with this movie because I did really enjoy it and am looking forward to a potential third movie.
