Slave Lake RCMP execute search warrants related to recent break and enter
Slave Lake, Alta. – On Oct. 21, 2022, Slave Lake RCMP, in conjunction with the Slave Lake General Investigation Section, executed two search warrants at two residences in Slave Lake as part of an investigation into a recent break and enter and theft that occurred in the community. As a result of the search, firearms and other prohibited weapons, along with a quantity of suspected heroin and methamphetamine were seized.
Brad Steven Miller (29), a resident of Slave Lake, is charged with:
· Possession of a Prohibited Weapon (x3)
· Possession of Property obtained by crime (x3)
· Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
· Unsafe Storage of a Firearm
· Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (x3)
· Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public
· Possession of a Controlled substance (Heroin)
· Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Methamphetamine)
After a judicial interim release hearing, Miller was released from custody with a court date of Nov. 23, 2022, in Slave Lake Provincial Court.
Reuben Richard Houle (26), a resident of Slave Lake, is charged with:
· Carrying a Concealed Weapon
· Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public
· Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
· Fail to Comply with Release Order (x3)
· Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (x2)
Houle did not speak to bail and remains in custody. He will be appearing in Slave Lake Provincial Court on Oct. 26, 2022.
“This represents a significant seizure of firearms, weapons and drugs that have been removed from our streets.” says, Sgt. Casey Bruyns, Acting Detachment Commander of the Slave Lake RCMP. “The Slave Lake RCMP will continue to target this activity in our efforts at crime reduction to ensure a safer community for the residents of Slave Lake and the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River”
