It’s been another difficult year for everyone. For some, it’s been a complete disaster.
This holiday season, let’s help make things a little better for a family or child in need. Let’s show them we care by supporting our local toy drive, food drive and hamper programs. We’ve listed information on regional initiatives below.

Peace River & Grimshaw – Salvation Army Toys for Tots & Kettle programs
The Peace River Salvation Army branch is once again be collecting toys and non perishable food items for those in need. Collection will run until December 6 at participating depots including;
Peace River – Bargain Store, Mint Health & Drugs, Peavey Mart, Freson Bros., Value Drug Mart, Walmart, Salvation Army, and River Country – KIX FM studios
Berwyn – Berwyn Pharmacy
Grimshaw – Rexall Drugs
The Salvation Army is also collecting monetary donations through their Kettle Campaign at No Frills, Walmart, Freson Bros. and Peace Country Co-op.

The Peace River Regional Women’s Shelter is a vital part our community, providing emergency shelter to women and children, plus outreach services to adults and youth within our region. They’re asking for your support as they near completion of their Second Stage Housing project.
Due to Covid, there’ll be no formal Festival of Trees, but you can make a donation through their however they’re hoping you’ll find something to take home with their 12 days of Christmas Online Auction running from November 29 to December 10!
If you don’t find something you love but still want to donate feel free to challenge a business, donate in the name of a loved one as a gift, or if you’re able to, make a personal donation. The Shelter is hoping to pass last year’s goal of $20,000!

The Peace River Rotaract Club is seeking citizens with big hearts to send personalized cards, letters or videos to residents. Deadline to donate is December 13, 2021. All items will be donated to the Central Peace FCSS Hampers.
Purchase a $5 ornament from the Eaglesham Post Office to place on the Community Christmas Tree in remembrance of someone dear to you. Proceeds go to the local Food Bank.

Share the gift of knowledge and drop off your new and gently used books at the Village or Town Hall Community Services.
Town of High Level FCSS and High Level IDA have teamed up to fill Christmas wishes for seniors. Stop by IDA and grab an ornament from the tree that has a Christmas gift wish on it.
Birch Hills County Christmas Hampers
Delivery Date set for December 17th, click here for application form, or pick one up at County office.
Between November 12—December 17 the FRN will be collecting donations of socks, mitt and toques (must be new) for those in need. All donations will be added on our “Giving Tree” upstairs in the FRN Hub and later donated to the Salvation Army and Women’s Shelter. Donations can be brought to the FRN and put on the tree or placed in the donation box at the Baytex Energy Centre (main entrance).
Northern Sunrise County – The Giving Tree
Nampa/Northern Sunrise County FCSS is collecting new and/or gently used mittens, toques, and coats for those in need.
Donations will be accepted until December 18, 2020. To donate please call your local FCSS Office in Northern Sunrise County and the Village of Nampa.
Nampa/Northern Sunrise County Community Services is organizing the Annual Christmas Gift Card Program to help families in need during the Christmas holidays.
If you are in need of assistance, or if you’d like to donate, call your local FCSS office before December 10, 2021.

Need a hand? Snow Angels signs are available for residents who need assistance clearing their snow. A snow Angel sign can be especially helpful to older adults, people with limited mobility and anyone needing help temporarily.
Have time to volunteer? If you see a Snow Angels sign on your neighbor’s lawn, lend them a hand. Snow Angels encourages volunteers to shovel snow for people who are unable to clear their own sidewalk.
Get a sign for your lawn or sign up to volunteer by calling Community Services (780) 624-1000 ext. 1030.
Fill a gift bag and bring cheer to senior who may be feeling isolated during the holiday season. Program begins November 22, filled bags must be returned by December 15. For more contact Peace River FCSS 780-624-1000 ext 1030.
Choose a card from the tree at either Home Hardware store and fill a senior’s Christmas wish. Bring back the wrapped gift and card no later than December 15.

Fairview Food Bank Drive
The Fairview Fire Department will distribute blue bags throughout the town the week of November 29th. Fill up the bags with non perishable items for the Food Bank and leave on your step for the Fire Department to pick up on Saturday December 4 and take to the Mall on Main.

The Children’s Resource Council in High Prairie is now accepting sponsorship forms and donations for this year’s Adopt a Family Sponsorship charity program.
