Saddle Hills County Water Project

The Saddle Hills County Central Peace Regional Water Project is expected to begin construction this year.

The project will include the construction of a new water supply intake on the Peace River basin, which is apart of the largest water basin area in Alberta spanning nearly one third of the province. The second part of the project will have them building 36 kilometers of new raw water pipeline.

This $40 million dollar project includes $16 million in funding from the federal government and $20 million from the provincial government with Saddle Hills county providing the remaining balance.

Saddle Hills County says access to an abundant and reliable source of water is key to economic growth.

The county also says with the current allocations of water licenses in Alberta coming under stress across the province. Continued and future economic growth will depend on substantial resources of water.

The project was announced back in September 2020.
