Reeve condemns acts of vandalism of vehicles owned by AHS employees

Regardless of someone’s position on the COVID-19 pandemic, one thing Mackenzie County Reeve, Josh Knelsen says one thing that is unacceptable is vandalism and harassing people.

On April 7, some Alberta Health Services workers had their vehicles vandalized in the LaCrete and Knelsen says that kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable.

“That was very disturbing to see, for sure,” states Knelsen.

While he acknowledges tensions are high all over Alberta over the pandemic, and the government’s response, he says restoring to crime is wrong.

“Everyone emotions are high right now, tensions across the province are rising but that is never acceptable,” he adds.

Knelsen also talked about the county’s bursary program, which is meant to help students get through their post-secondary studies.

He says it can be hard to convince some people to stay in the region after they graduate, but feels the way of life in the Mackenzie Region is second-to-none.

“Once people get out here and see the quality of life, the friendlies of the people, and access our great facilities, they don’t want to leave,” explains Knelsen.

Anyone looking for more information on the bursary program can find the application form here.
