Pre-Construction On La Crete Bridge Could Begin In 2022

There’s a bit of a timeline now for when we can see construction of the toll bridge to replace the ferry at Tompkins Landing.

According to Peace River MLA Dan Williams, the province is continuing consultations with the Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement.

“Once we have a decision with them, if they decide to go forward on the crossing and organize the details there, we could have the pre-construction work done in 2022 and within a number of years after that, we could see traffic crossing that bridge.”

“I’m very excited about that possibility and the way that it’s going to give back to our communities, not just in terms of developing out resources, but local communities that will see new opportunities. Paddle Prairie, Manning, La Crete and others will really benefit from having that infrastructure from the crossing which I believe will be the largest span in the province in all likelihood for any bridge.”

We talked about several different topics with Williams, including provincial investments being made into local mental health supports, the Polish-Canadian Heritage Day Act, and more. The full discussion can be found below.
