Planned police operation in Sexsmith results in arrest of wanted male
Sexsmith, Alta. – On Jan. 4, 2024, members of the Western Alberta District (WAD) Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and the RCMP Emergency Response Team conducted a planned police operation at a residence on 93 Street, in Sexsmith, related to a male wanted under multiple arrest warrants.
As a result of the investigation, Malcolm Testawits (39), a resident of Duncan’s First Nation, Alta., was arrested on more than 20 Criminal Code warrants, including:
- Multiple counts of failing to comply with release orders;
- Flight from police;
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking;
- Resisting arrest; and
- Theft of a motor vehicle.
Testawits was brought before a justice of the peace and was remanded into custody. He has multiple upcoming court dates in multiple jurisdictions in regards to his warrants. No new charges were laid.
The RCMP would like to thank the members of the public living in the area for their cooperation during the event.
