The Town Council for Peace River met in a virtual setting making it the first since July 12, 2021 when the province, at the time, had lifted all COVID-19 restrictions. At the meeting it was discussed if council should remain in a virtual setting. Council decided the remaining 4 meetings will be conducted in council chambers as the Municipal Election is fast approaching.
It was decided in council last night to repeal reimbursement to employees for the purchase of safety shoes. Council voted in favor as the directive was last updated in 1996 and is now looked upon as outdated. A new directive is written and awaiting a signature of approval from Chief Administrative Officer Christopher Parker before the updated directive can be implemented.
Council also agreed to proclaim Rail Safety Week in Peace river which will begin September 20,2021 and end September 26,2021.
