Peace River RCMP arrest man for stolen property and arson

On March 23, 2021 at around 12 p.m. the Peace River RCMP responded to a break and enter from a business located on 101 Street in Peace River where a vehicle was stolen. Shortly after, the RCMP received a call of a suspicious vehicle in Brownvale and police believed it was the stolen vehicle. In result of the investigation with assistance from the RCMP Western Alberta Crime Reduction Unit police were able to identify the suspect.

On March 24, 2021 a witness in Fairview saw a suspect lighting a vehicle on fire and called police. It was determined by police it was the same vehicle stolen in Peace River’s break and enter the day before. The suspect fled on foot and with assistance from the RCMP Police Dog Services, RCMP helicopter, Fairview RCMP and Peace River RCMP, he was arrested on a property in Fairview.

37-year-old Malcolm Testawich of no fixed address has been charged with;

  • Possession of stolen property over $5000
  • Arson
  • Flight from police

Testawich was remanded into custody following a Judicial Interim Release hearing and is scheduled to be in Peace River provincial court on April 14, 2021.
