Peace Regional RCMP lay charges following drug trafficking investigation
Peace River, Alta. – In March of 2022, the Peace Regional General Investigation Section began a drug trafficking investigation in the town of Peace River, Alberta.
On May 5, 2022 a search warrant was executed on a vehicle, residence and a business with assistance from the Western Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit. As a result of the search, the following was seized by the RCMP:
· 5.2 ounces of cocaine packaged for trafficking
· a loaded handgun
· $30,325 in Canadian currency
· 95 000 contraband cigarettes
Ryan Alexander Cardinal (27) of St. Isodore has been charged with:
· possession for the purpose of trafficking
· possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
Justin Jesse Christian (30) of Peace River has been charged with:
· possession for the purpose of trafficking
· possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
· unauthorized possession of a firearm
· unsafe storage of a firearm
· tampering with the serial number of a firearm
Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Cardinal was released is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court June 6, 2022. Christian was remanded into custody.
As this matter is now before the courts, no updates are anticipated.
