Paddle Prairie Man Facing Stolen Vehicle Charges

Peace Regional RCMP have a man from Paddle Prairie in custody after a chase involving a stolen vehicle happened on Wednesday.

A truck that had been stolen in the Manning area was seen travelling down Highway 35 at around 9 AM.

Officers encountered the vehicle in Dixonville, that’s when the suspect turned off the Highway onto a back road, sped past several residences before ultimately turning onto a set of railroad tracks and driving along the rail line.

The vehicle was later found abandoned in a field after it had apparently left the rail line and become stuck in the snow.

The footprints of an individual were tracked for several kilometers from the vehicle to a bush line, where one person was located and arrested without incident.

31 year old Micheal Loonskin is facing the following charges.

Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
Operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited from doing so
Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
Possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)
Failing to comply with conditions of a release order (x3)

He’ll appear in Fort Vermilion court via CCTV on February 18.
