The Rotary Club of Grande Prairie cut their first cheques for the COVID-19 Rapid Relief Fund in result of ticket sales from the Rotary Dream Home Lottery this past week. The Club announced earlier this month for the month of April, 50% of Dream Home ticket sales will go towards the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie COVID-19 Rapid Relief Fund to help food banks in the region in response to the global pandemic.

“This is really motivating people to support the Dream Home but maybe just as much or even more-so–support the region via the COVID-19 Rapid Relief Fund.”

On April 6, the cheques were announced and sent to:

  • Grande Prairie $26,000.00
  • Beaverlodge $970.00
  • Fairview $940.00
  • Hythe $940.00
  • Sexsmith $1,280.00
  • Wembley $1,125.00

The next cheques will be issued and announced on April 13 and Raffle Manager, Kevin Hilgers is hopeful the total amounts for the upcoming cheques will be similar, if not larger than the April 6 cheques. Hilgers says “this is really motivating people to support the Dream Home but maybe just as much or even more-so–support the region via the COVID-19 Rapid Relief Fund.”

Community support for the COVID-19 Rapid Relief Fund is evident, with the New Horizon Co-op joining forces. Marketing Team Leader, Amanda Pinard says “we are a sponsor of the Dream Home over the past years and now want to help with the Rapid Relief Fund. We are excited to unfold this in the coming days alongside the Dream Home and Rotary Club of Grande Prairie, stay tuned.” Pinard also said it feels like the right thing to do and hopes others join in.
