The Alberta government confirmed 22 new cases of COVID-19, including an additional case in the northern zone.

That brings the total of cases in the north to four, with 119 province-wide.

Before that update, Premier Jason Kenney announced a $50 million aid package to help people financially that need to self-isolate for two weeks.

According to a government release, the money would be a one-time payment to help people pay their bills until federal emergency payments are rolled out, which is expected to be in April.

The province also announced that residents and businesses can defer payments on gas and electric bills for 90 days without the risk of being cut off.

Student loan payments are also on pause for the next six months, starting on March 30 with no interest building up.
