Northern Sunrise County Reeve, Carolyn Kolebaba says he has received phone calls from residents wondering if the county plans to absorb part of the Municipal District of Smoky River.

“That is strictly a rumour, it is not reality at all,” stresses Kolebaba.

“It is coming out of the MD of Smoky that Northern Sunrise County will absorb a portion of it, which is strictly a rumour, not reality at all!”

Kolebaba last week was acclaimed as reeve of the county at its organizational meeting by council and Corinna Williams will continue as Deputy Reeve.

Kolebaba says she is proud to work with which she describes as a great council.

“I am grateful for the great minds we have sitting around the table bringing so much to the decisions we make from what they have experienced and the knowledge that they carry with them so it’s wonderful,” says the reeve.

Kolebaba has been on council since 1998 and tells the Trending 55 Newsroom that it doesn’t feel like a long time.

“It’s gone by quickly,” recalls Kolebaba. “My residents are super people and they always phone to let me know if issues are arising or compliments and I am certainly grateful to them for allowing me to be a politician for this length of time.”
