Northern Sunrise County wants to help residents get rid of their garbage.

The county, along with the Peace Regional Waste Management Company are having their annual spring cleanup.

County Councillor and Chair of the waste management company, Dan Boisvert says he thinks there could be more waste disposed of this year thanks to the pandemic.

“Due to COVID-19 a lot of people have had more time at home and in their yards,” says Boisvert. “There seems to be a lot of yard cleanups going on and it is always appreciated.”

All disposal fees will be waived during the cleanup period, which lasts until Sunday.

There are bins available for items such as: appliances, wood, dry waste, various metals and household refuse.

Boisvert says electronics can be tossed away, but that must be done at the centre in Peace River.

The county will also have expanded hours the Little Buffalo and Cadotte Lake transfer stations.

They will be open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM this coming Sunday.

Due to COVID-19, staff will not be able to assist residents in unloading their items.
