Northern Sunrise County Wildfire Update.

The Peace River Forest Area (PRFA) has taken over management of the wildfires within the County. Wildfire SWF068 (Harmon Valley/Reno area) is still classified as Out of Control. The estimated size is approximately 108,889 ha. As of May 24, 2023, the fire is approximately 40 per cent contained. Firefighters continue to work to extinguish hotspots and look for opportunities on the northeast side of the fire for heavy equipment access. There is currently no danger to homes within the County. However hot spots may continue within the fire area.PWF038 (CNRL fire) is also considered Out of Control and is approximately 6,207 ha in size.
