North Peace Navigators To Begin Training Camp

Hockey season is officially back in the Peace Country as the North Peace Navigators begin their training camp this weekend.

According to head coach Ken Quinney, the NWJHL will have exhibition games starting on October 10.

“Hockey Alberta has approved our exhibition cohort play with Fairview. We’re going to play five games of exhibition play with Fairview starting on October 10. We’re hoping to get approval for the month of November to maybe start some pod play and bring in another team like Fort St. John and see if we can’t get some more games in.”

It’s later start than usual thanks to the pandemic and Quinney says the players have been chomping at the bit to get started.

“Many of them are getting excited just to get started here. Some of them have been working hard all summer. A lot of guys planned to start in September like normal and with this little delay, you could tell it’s starting to bother them, everyone wants to get started.”
