New Appointments Made in HFCRD

A couple of appointments were made within the Holy Family Catholic Regional Division (HFCRD).

Laurie Goyetche is now the new Acting Principal of Manning’s Rosary School. She has the bittersweet task of succeeding Patrick Stokes, who died suddenly during the summer.

Superintendent Betty Turpin says she is grateful Goyetche agreed to step into this position.

“(Mr. Stokes) will be pleased to know his school is passed on to her capable hands,” Turpin said in a news release.

Goyetche, who is originally from Cape Breton Island, had previously served as the school’s vice-principal since September of 2013.

“During her time a Rosary School, Laurie has proven herself to be a strong, knowledgeable leader,” Turpin continued. “We look forward to working with her in this new capacity.”

Goyetche was lived and worked in Alberta for the past 12 years. She has a Bachelor of Education degree from Nova Scotia’s St. Francis Xavier University, and her Masters in Educational Studies Program from the University of Alberta.

In other news, Mike Pickles has recently been hired as an Assistant Principal at Peace River’s Good Shepherd School.

Most recently having been employed with the Northern Teacher Education Program in La Ronge, Saskatchewan, Pickles has 24 years of teaching experience with all grades, and has also accumulated about eight years of administrative experience.

Turpin says they are excited to welcome Pickles to the division.

“(Mr. Pickles) brings an outstanding skillset that fits well with the needs of HFCRD and with Good Shepherd School,” said Turpin. “He’s bilingual, which is a tremendous asset to the school’s French Immersion program.”

Turpin says Pickles has demonstrated a willingness to learn and grow professionally, and that she looks forward to seeing him grow in his new position.

Pickles, originally from Clare, Nova Scotia, He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from St. Mary’s University in Halifax, a Bachelor of Education in Social Studies from the Nova Scotia Teacher’s College in Truro, as well as a Masters of Education in Curriculum Development from Halifax’s Mount Saint Vincent University.
