The North Peace Navigators will be up against one of their biggest rivals in the NWJHL finals.

They will be facing the Fort St. John Huskies for the league championship.

The Huskies won six of the eight meetings with the Navs during the regular season.

Navs forward Theo Cunningham says it should be an intense series against the Huskies.

“It’s going to be a tough series for sure. They’re a good strong team, they like to get pucks in deep and take the body. We’re going to have to battle out that and it should be a good series for sure.”

The Gift Lake, AB product is in his third season with the Navs, he says there’s a lot of animosity between the two teams.

“It’s a big rivalry. The guys don’t like each other so it’s gonna be a fun, hard hitting series. We’re definitely excited about that for sure.”

In the history of the NWJHL, these two teams have won the most championships.

Fort St. John has seven titles (2000, 2001, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2018, 2019) while the Navigators have six (2004, 2005, 2008, 2014, 2015, 2016).
