Peace River-Westlock MP Arnold Viersen thinks there’s some things the federal government can do address inflation and the rising cost of living.

Speaking with the Trending 55 Newsroom, Viersen says the feds need to quote “quit spending money that we don’t have.”

“When you put money into the economy without increasing production, more dollars chasing fewer goods only raises the price of everything. On top of that, we’ve seen the CPP increase. That has cost us basically new CPP taxes coming right off you paychecks. In the midst of the downturn due to COVID, we don’t think that’s necessairly a good ide that the government should be bringing in right now.”

Viersen says the Conservative Party will continue to call on the Liberals to hold off on CPP increases and repeal the carbon tax.

He also says he’ll continue his work combating human trafficking, saying he has a number of private members bills he plans to introduce in the House of Commons on that front.

“Around sentencing, bringing back the mandatory sentencing for human traffickers and also just around what defines human trafficking. Bringing Canada in line with what they call the palermo protocol which is a protocol for identifying trafficking victims. Making sure that Canadian law allows police to do their job when rescuing trafficking victims and also prosecuting traffickers.”
