One of the best Marvel films that we’ve gotten in a while
Thunderbolts follows this ragtag group of heroes… no, that’s not quite right… Super-powered individuals that are forced to work together against a common enemy. Despite their differences, they form a team and come together to try and save the day. By my little summary, it might sound a little cheesy, but it’s actually super well done. This group feels like a closer team and more like a family than the Avengers ever did.
Although most of the characters are coming from prior MCU projects, I didn’t feel too left out of the loop like I had in other Marvel movies. Of course, having watched all of their shows/movies would probably give more context, but just having a general grasp still lets you know what was happening, and the movie was still very enjoyable.
There is quite a bit of good humour and funny moments. A lot of people always drag the MCU’s writing for having a certain type of humour, but I thought it was well done here and made me laugh quite a few times. It isn’t all just jokes, though. Since this is a group of “bad guys,” they have quite a bit of trauma that they are working through, and I thought even that was well done. In our modern day, where it is becoming more of a common topic, I thought it was interesting that it got explored here.
Without spoiling anything, I also wanted to say that the final villain was so cool! a completely black silohette with just two white pinholes for eyes showing. It gave me shivers becuase not only was he creepy he had the power to back it up.
Overall, I really enjoyed this one even though I was worried I wasn’t completely caught up on every single MCU project. So if you’re looking for a great superhero film to watch with some fun adventure and even some somber moments, give it a watch. If you want to see more, check out the trailer below!
