MLA Rehn Talks About Infrastructure Investments

Lesser Slave Lake MLA Pat Rehn says some infrastructure investments in the region by the province will provide some help to a struggling ceonomy.

Rehn says the area will get over $7.5 million from the government’s Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program.

“Projects like in the County of Big Lakes, the government is allocating $889,500 for two bridge replacements in the community. We also sent $975,000 to the Gift Lake Metis Settlement for a bridge replacement and other repairs.

Rehn says the bridge replacements and repairs will make the infrastructure safer for residents and make it last a long time.

With the province being hit by and oil price collapse and the COVID-19 pandemic, Rehn says the increase infrastructure work will create more jobs in the area.

“We’ve seen success with this investing in infrastructure when Prime Minister Stephen Harper did it in 2008 to whether the recession. The Economic Action Plan created thousands of jobs across the country creating much needed infrastructure. We’re building on that success with Alberta’s recovery plan.”
